Greetings, Edwin, and welcome to the madness of a well-organized PDA :)

Mike gave an excellent description of tags, but he didn't go quite far
enough, I think. Also, you don't say which operating system you're using.
the Mac and PC versions of the desktop are different, and I cannot comment
on the PC version at all.

On my Mac, the desktop side of Shadow recognizes the tags, but cannot deal
with them nearly as well as the PDA side of the software. That's one of
Shadow's Mac failings, I'm afraid. And since pda's are not as popular as
they were, this wonderful piece of software is not likely to see many
further improvements, darn it.

That being said, I use Shadow daily; that, plus a freeware backgammon game,
and Big Clock (to time my morning oatmeal) are the three main things I use
my Palm for. Shadow does all my work planning, shopping lists, and keeps my
favourite quotes too. Oh, I use the Fitaly kepyboard software as well, but
that's only because Shadow is so useful!

I use the tags at work, and I use the filters for dates even more, but since
I use the desktop only to save in case of Nasty Things Happening, the
desktop's shortcomings don't bother me.

On the other hand (hint, hint!) if the Mac desktop could equal the pda side
of Shadow, I'd almost certainly come to rely on the desktop as much as I do
on the handheld.

I hope this helps you, Edwin. Let us know how you're coming along with the
learning curve!

As an aside; I keep my telephone list in the Palm, and very few phone
numbers in the cell phone. I use the most basic cell phone I could find, and
it's ONLY a phone. My Tungsten E2 with Shadow can handle information much
better, and the screen is legible, too.

Cheers,
Neil Slater
