Shadow desktop closes on opening file

No changes in operating environment or Shadow Desktop (4.3.9). When I
click on File>Open (or the open icon), there is a brief (< 1 sec.)
flash of the file choosing dialog box and then the program terminates.
Tried, with no success: uninstall/reinstall, running from command
line, restored to a week ago. Any ideas??

Well, thats pretty darned odd!

Try renaming your Shadow data directory (the one containing the
xml files) or otherwise 'hiding it' (moving it, deleting it, etc.) Then
see if the desktop is okay .. could be theres some really alien looking
filename (really long, or full of nasty characters or something?) that is
killing it.

Perhaps make a directory listing and let us know?

Moved the only two .xml files to desktop, but still terminated program
on clicking Open (flash of file chooser: I think the xml files were
gone). No funny files.
Directory path: C:\Program Files\Palm\[User
Name]\ShadowPlan400\ShadP-Inbox.xml
Thanks for spending your time on this!

What about doing as I said though -- ie: If we 'hide' (remove,
whatever) the Shadow directory entirely so it can't find anything, does
the desktop run? (And if so we can redstore files until we find the
culprit.) If not, then there is something messed up in Windows (ie: a DLL
gone bad or somesuch) which we might be able to track down.

Aside .. let us hope Palm's Nova saves them. With all the
suffering we've been through in the "Palm Economy" the last 5+ years, I'd
still support a Palm device over the others. Someone has to :)

Tried 'hiding' the the Shadow directory, but same problem. However --
this weekend, by accident, I think I found the problem, and NOT
Shadow. I'm also running DM2, but if I close DM2, Shadow works fine;
restart DM2 and Shadow again closes on open-file. I emailed Source
Forge, but no answer thus far. Although I like DM2's features, Shadow
is absolutely essential for my work flow, so -- bye,bye DM2. I hope
you're right re Nova (I've got two patients who work for Palm, so I've
got feelers with hooks out!!). Greatly appreciate your sticking with
me on this problem.
