Can SP still be bought? Someone willing to sell his/her licence?

Hi all,

did any of you purchase Shadow Plan recently and can tell me if I can still buy it?

Story is: I mailed codejedi some weeks ago and asked if there are alternative methods for paying (like PayPal) because I don't have a credit card and I had concerns sending cash via Mail from Europe. No response.

Then I sent another mail, apologizing for the impertinent question and asked if, regarding I got no answer to my first mail, purchasing SP was still possible should I get myself a credit card (btw solely for that purpose). Again, no response.

Intuition, of course, tells me not to buy from someone who doesn't bother to answer inquiries. But I really need a good task manager for my palm and I don't see an alternative to SP for me. Question is if it is still possible in the first place, i.e. if I would ever get my serial code after paying.

So... any experience with buying SP?

Or would one of you guys like to sell his/her licence (Palm and Windows Desktop (and maybe Linux Desktop, too)) to me? I could pay via PayPal ;).

Well, long story short ...

This app has always been a sideline for Jeff. When Palm pulled the rug out from under the Palm OS, Jeff pretty much stopped development (in favor of other projects he's got, see his site ...). And, in addition, he's, well ... "a bit too honest for his own good", if you know what I mean. He's very reticent to sell something he knows is "end of life". Unless you convince him you know what you're getting into (and after all is only a few dollars we're talking about).

You should get his attention here, even though he's busy with his day job and a fairly new addition to the family. Let's see, he was here a few weeks ago, but as you can see there have only been maybe a dozen posts since then.

As to the e-mail, he's had serious problems with spam flooding his inbox and had to move the support address around. Do a search in here and you should find his latest. Or maybe your e-mails just got eaten by his (overzealous?) filters ...

Also, try posting a new thread with subject "Attention Jeff!" or something similar. I think he's got a scanner running on the e-mail stream to pick up things like that.

I can attest to the fact that he's always given excellent support, so there must be a rational reason he hasn't replied.

Ken

P.S. He is considering resurrecting Shadow as a portable app, but as you might expect, that is a whole new project.

Thanks a lot, Ken. You are probably right and it was just a technical/work overload thing.

I am going to try your idea of the "Attention Jeff" post and will then, maybe, be able to join the Shadow Plan community. I really like the Palm OS and even just bought a new Centro after my Zire 72 gave up. So SP will be most valuable for me, even if I know that I am investing in a moribund system.

It was sideline, then was not sideline (remember the glory years
wher eI had how many updates per week, with several hundred active alpha

cycle? Ahh, I still miss that :)

The website links to the email form, that guarantees getting
through my filters.

In essence I started to get thousands of spam per day to my
addresses; it was extra devious too, as it tended to use From and Subject
lines copied from this very mailing list .. nigh impossible to block
easily :/

I spent years just dealing with it, as I believed in doing
diligence to my support box, weeding through i t by hand; after years of
spending a minimum of 2 hours (or more!) per day on support email, I went
like everyone else -- aggressive filtering, and pointing people to FAQs
more, and automated tools. Its less personal for sure, but its how one
'survives' :/

For a good many years I was very proud of my personal touch; it
was a huge selling point I think. Alas, all good things..

A very difficult problem; iphone versus Palm Pre versus RIM versus
Android versus webapp versus native for various platforms. *grumble*
Mobile dev was always a minefield, but it only got worse :)
